What a fun shoot, and what makes it really special is that it was for my niece Danielle (she’s the one on the right).  Her sister got in on the act and mom too, and I think the series came out really great! There were a few challenges with this session, the biggest being that we were shooting at the beach.  Timing is everything when it comes to the beach.  We had to get down there with just enough light left in the day, but not too much, but also, not too little!  I supplement with flash, BUT (and you knew there’d be a BUT) the...

Family Photographer – Wilbraham, MA

I’ve been crazy, crazy this summer going from place to place with my oldest daughter with Lacrosse…  It’s taken entirely too long to get back to my computer to do some posting!  Here we go, a couple of the more interesting ones of the past few months, starting with a Family shoot and framing project! This was a fun shoot  – the challenge was getting a certain someone to smile for the camera – it took about a half hour, but he finally started coming around 🙂 the best part was that the dog was the most cooperative...

Always an awesome time shooting this family and I was fortunate enough to do her Senior shoot before she heads off to college! This is my favorite of the bunch, and I’m glad it’s one she picked for this preview! Love this shot too, check out her reflection on the car! Now for the real fun stuff, when her brother and sister came in for some pics… almost too much clowning around, but we managed to get some really great shots… You can go ANYWHERE to get your Senior pictures done, not just at the photographer at the school...

With our crazy busy schedule running our daughter to Lacrosse tournaments, I really haven’t had many opportunities to work with many families this fall and I really miss it! Here are a few from a recent session that I really love, especially like when I can be creative and have some fun with Photoshop… The bummer is that now that Hurricane Sandy has gone thru, all the pretty leaves will be on the ground instead of on the trees :(. Still, there are many opportunities for great shots this November!!

Photography Tutorial: A Quick Guide to Understanding Your DSLR Camera!

This is something I’ve wanted to put together for a while since I’ve been teaching a Using Your DSLR Class for Adult Ed at Minnechaug. I throw around a lot of terms in class like aperture, exposure, shutter speed and ISO. Many who take the class slowly understand how, thru the process of trial and error, the four components work together to get a proper exposure. Of course, you COULDuse the automatic modes that come with your camera, but that would take all the fun out of it! Some of the images presented here were found on various...

Here’s another repeat family that I have a lot of fun with! The little one is growing up, but he’s a handful… good thing I brought along my assistant to help keep him occupied, but he still escaped a few shots!

I’ve been getting a lot of business from my website – this is one of them and it was great! She needed pictures done for her yearbook and, of course, needed them ASAP. With the weather being so cold, we were forced to shoot indoors. Her house was beautifully decorated for the holidays, so it worked out great! Only problem was the size of the room, it was kinda small 🙂 – but we made it work! After moving furniture, shooting from the other room, and getting really creative, we got some great Senior shots and some great family...
